Course Overview

Teaching: Learn sophisticated verbal instructions combined with the essential principles of communication to help your students reach their desired goals. Learn how to teach safely and effectively structure, conduct and deliver various levels of asana classes.  Explore the role of the teacher, intra-class dynamics, trauma-sensitive yoga, creating a balanced class, pre-natal guidelines and more.

Healing Adjustments: Learn what makes an adjustment safe and sound and the ingredients that make up a quality adjustment. Appreciate the differences that effect student’s abilities and limitations and learn how to respectfully accommodate these. Understand the difference of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic (touch) cues to communication and recognise the profound power of touch to educate, transform and heal. Know when it is appropriate to use verbal instruction, the guidance of light touch, hands-on corrections or body-weight adjustments. Learn adjustment principles that can be applied to a variety of postures within the main asana groups, eg, back bends, forward bends, twists, etc and discover which postures are unsafe to adjust and understand why. Build your confidence to guide, assist and enhance your student’s practice with beneficial, quality, safe and effective corrections.

Trauma-Aware Yoga: With the prevalence of trauma and generalised anxiety in our culture it is important for every teacher to understand what trauma is and how to create a safe, compassionate, nurturing environment that accommodates the most sensitive student.

Sanskrit Chanting: Sanskrit is the sacred, ancient language of Yoga. The yogis say that knowledge is encrypted in sound. Correct pronunciation will automatically lead to yogic knowledge because Sanskrit is encrypted yogic knowledge. Using the rules of Sanskrit grammar you will learn the correct pronunciation giving you a tool to connect to this 10,000 year old living tradition as we learn a selection of mantras.

Ameriga, Italy

I really love the lessons and the chanting. So grateful to be part of this training. I wish I could be there live, but this is definitely still wonderful.
Allison, USA

“I applied the beginners’ class in a free session with the municipality here in the occasion of Yoga International Day, and the result was overwhelmingly positive! about 25 people were so engaged and felt included and empowered. Two of them signed up as a result, and two are inquiring about studying online from Istanbul. I have been sending you much gratitude and love.”

Hazar, Turkey

“I held a beginners course using the Ashtanga beginners course that Monica put together. It went really well… It was a pleasure to teach the course, it was very thorough and detailed, which I appreciated. The students loved it and I learned so much as well. It reminded me of how happy I was to do my training with you.”
Paul, Australia
