This event is part of our European 200hour Level 1 Teacher Training. You can do this event as part of the training or stand-alone in case you are only interested in these particular subject. The training consists of four individual week-long modules with each providing 50 hours of tuition, of which 40 hours are delivered in person and 10 hours online.
You can participate in each module without completing the whole training. Students who wish to gain deeper knowledge about a particular subject rather than wanting to teach are welcome.
This module, Anatomy, Adjusting & Asana with Monica, will take place on 17 – 23 September 2024 in Greece at Limeni Village Hotel. Limeni is about 3-and-a-half hours south of Athens. We organize bus transfers directly from Athens airport.
Learn about the miraculous structure and function of your body! Studying the qualities of joints, connective tissues and muscles give you a holistic understanding of the effects of asana on the body. This will enable you to teach yoga postures in an safe and helpful way to different body types and to work intelligently with your own and other students’ capabilities, limitations and full potential.
We will explore the anatomy of the postures within the major asana groups including back bends, forward bends, hip opening postures and arm balances. Through a deeper understanding of our body’s structure and movement patterns, we learn how to bring ease and grace to our practice and to teach with a quality of refinement that supports health and longevity.
Learning Yoga Anatomy from a yogi with 45 years of practice experience who is a Doctor of Chiropractic and a registered Yoga Therapist makes this an engaging and powerfully relevant topic!

Monica Gauci has practised yoga for 45 years. She is a Doctor of Chiropractic and a certified Yoga Therapist. With her husband Gregor Maehle, Monica is the co-founder of 8 Limbs Yoga. She is a contributing author to his books Ashtanga Yoga, Practice and Philosophy and Ashtanga Yoga, The Intermediate Series in the areas of asana, anatomy, injury prevention and rehabilitation. She has published Ashtanga Yoga Beginners Course Manual for Teachers. She currently trains yoga teachers internationally, teaches workshops on therapeutic Yoga and has a passion for the Healing Arts. Monica’s breadth of knowledge, her insight, her calm manner and playful personality make learning from her easy and enjoyable!
Asana classes will be taught in the Led and Mysore-style format.
Each full day will comprise of 6 hours 40 minutes of tuition. Vegetarian/ vegan breakfast and dinner buffets are included in the price. Transport is not included. There are various accommodation options. Lunch can be ordered a la carte and additionally there are various good restaurants within walking distance.

When booking you need to first book your accommodation option and fill out our application form. Should your application be denied the deposit will be refunded immediately. Final tuition payment is due 3 months prior to event.

All prices in Australian Dollars. Total price consists of tuition fee of AU$1200 + accommodation fee (deposit). The sum of both includes tuition, 6 nights accommodation, brunch and dinner. Transport is not included.
Monica is a life-long yogi. She has over 40 years experience of yoga study and practice!
